My Project Choice Story.
Written by Isaac
As a whole, I have really enjoyed Project Choice. I have really enjoyed working with my group on education days. I have really got on with everyone and I have made friends.
The staff at the College are so friendly, generous, and supportive.
First, I did a placement with the Portering team in the hospital, but I had to stop doing that because of COVID restrictions. My next placement was working in the kitchens at the hospital. Through these experiences I have realised that the hospital was not the environment for me because it was too stressful.
My final placement was at a Sue Ryder Charity shop in town. I found the retail environment less stressful; it was still public facing and I felt like there was less pressure on me. At the charity shop I use the till, I serve customers, tag clothes, sort clothes and clean the shop. I have loved it so much, that the staff have asked me to stay on as a volunteer.
HEE - Project Choice has helped me because it has made me a better person. Not that I was horrible before! But it has made me more flexible and more patient.
