Leadership training

A central hub of information for learning disability leadership courses.

The NHS Leadership Academy's aim is to secure improvements in patient care through better leadership and greater staff engagement. To achieve this they offer a range of tools, models, programmes and expertise. Local Delivery Partners also to develop leaders at a regional level.

Who can apply: Anyone working within NHS or NHS commissioned health care services.

Cost: The cost of programmes is subsidised by the NHS Leadership Academy and the relevant NHS organisation.

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has a range of blended leadership and management development courses suitable for registered nurses and health care professionals from bands 6 to 9 (or equivalent). Designed for aspiring leaders the programmes of vary in length, from two-day to 10 months, and focus on clinical and political leadership. Both cultivate leadership skills and will shape participants as a future leaders.

Who can apply: Registered nurses and health care professionals.

Cost: Variety of prices with discounts available for members of the RCN.

Skills for Care is the home of the National Skills Academy offering a range of leadership and management development programmes, tools and resources. The programmes are suitable for leaders and managers at all levels, to feel supported in their roles.  

Who can apply: Any employer or individual working within health or social care.

Cost: Variety of prices.

As the sector skills council for the health sector, Skills for Health provide a variety of services including leadership and management training accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). 

Who can apply: Any employer or individual looking to access ILM accredited training in leadership, management or mentoring.

Cost: Courses from £450 to £1,150 per person.
