We listened and...

As part of our work to improve education and training for all learners, we undertake national thematic quality reviews each year. These reviews enable our learners to participate in focus groups which inform and advise our work. In 2022 we reviewed cardiothoracic surgery, midwifery and paramedicine.

A national thematic review for quality involves the in-depth analysis of a programme, profession and/or clinical learning environment across all NHS regions.

Thematic reviews are the one of the ways we work with education and placement providers to mitigate emerging and escalating concerns and promote the spread and adoption of good practice.

Each review aims to deliver significant and sustainable improvements in education and training, reduce student attrition and improve overall learner experience.

Many of our regional councils are multidisciplinary and provide a network for pre and post registration students and doctors and dentists in training at various points within their learning programmes and working and training across different healthcare services.
