How did you find out about the competition?

I was browsing the British Endodontic Society webpage online when I came across several prizes listed. One in particular caught my attention “The Prize for Foundation Dentists”. I read about the award and how to apply and I knew it would be a great learning opportunity.

What did it involve?

The competition involved having to submit an extensive case report on a clinical procedure involving endodontic treatment. This case report had to include a history, diagnosis and treatment plan with justification. I had to document the treatment provided including what materials I used and finally comment on the success of treatment.

What is the prize?

The winner of the Foundation Dentist prize receives some prize money and is invited to the Regional Meeting of the Society as a guest next Spring.

What made you enter it?

I have had a keen interest in Endodontic treatment and I thoroughly enjoy taking the patient through the stages of a treatment plan and stabilising their oral health. I have seen the positive impact this can have on people’s overall health and confidence.

What do you think it has done for you?

This has been an excellent learning opportunity, and it enabled me to be reflective about a case from start to end. I also realised I have skills that I am strong at and skills I need to develop in, and I look forward to developing these skills by undertaking courses.

Huge congratulations to Hinal.
