Health Education England welcomes international nurses

2 November 2020

HEE are pleased to welcome five nurses on the Global Learners programme (GLP) from Kerala, India to Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The nurses are part of the GLP programme which offers a three year work-based educational experience for overseas registered nurses to live, learn and work in the UK, directly for the NHS. It intends to offer a safe, ethical, and low cost alternative to traditional migration routes.

The package includes travel to the UK and three months accommodation.  Nurses on the progamme also have the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge through a a comprehensive learning package while working in the NHS.

The GLP has partnered with the Overseas Development and Employment Promotion Consultants (ODEPC), part of the Government of Kerala, who provide English Language training and pastoral support to the nurses before they travel to the UK.
