Strengthening regional engagement between the Health and Education Sectors

The event brought together vice-chancellors and senior leaders in the health and education sectors from across the Northeast and Yorkshire. HEE`s. Regional head of nursing Professor Laura Serrant opened the evening with her Windrush poem. 

Through lead, tabletop discussions the attendees considered what more we can do collaboratively to ensure the health and care sector in our region has a workforce that is sufficient, sustainable and of high quality. The timing was also synchronised to coincide with the formal legal establishment of four integrated care boards (ICBs) in our region on 1st July 2022.   

Moving forward Mandy Brailsford, Education and transformation lead added the importance of building on the drive generated in the evening.  "It is all our responsibilities to ensure we champion at every opportunity workforce systems and the quality of education received".
