Check and check again

It is important that your application does not contain any spelling or grammatical errors. Using a spell checker will help but won’t pick up grammatical errors. So read through your draft application carefully and check that it makes sense, is clear, and says what you want it to say.

It is very easy to become “word blind” to your errors, so it’s a good idea to have a second person to check it over for you, before submitting. This is especially important if you are re-using content from a CV or previous application.

Make sure you haven’t included any giveaways such as references to previous applications or names. Recruiters are very alert to “copy and paste” applications.

Applicants who work on tailoring their application will always be more successful.
