CVs or application forms?

Many employers use CVs, but HEE does not. Instead, you will be asked to complete a standard application form online on NHS Jobs.

All applications to NHS employers use NHS Jobs so if you apply to HEE you will need to know how best to do this.

There are benefits and drawbacks to having to complete an online application form:

Benefits

  • You have more “space” and opportunity to sell yourself
  • You can tailor your application to the vacancy
  • Collecting standard information from applicants in a consistent way is fairer and less open to recruitment bias

Drawbacks

  • It takes longer to complete
  • It takes longer to complete, and you must put more effort in
  • It takes longer to complete – you can’t just attach a CV and press send

You will spot a consistent theme here!

  • You need to allow more time to complete an application when you are asked to apply for a job at HEE. This applies to all HEE vacancies.
  • CVs will not be accepted. If you try to shortcut this and just attach a CV, you will fail, your application will be rejected.
  • So, give yourself enough time to do your application justice.
  • HEE reserves the right to close a vacancy early when sufficient quality applications have been received. So don’t leave applications to the last minute.

This guide will now focus on how you can increase your chances of making a successful application through your application form.
