Tailoring your application

The most important thing to do to increase your chance of success is to tailor your application.

Through your application, you bring the recruiter’s attention to your skills knowledge and experience that are most relevant to the vacancy you seek. You are showing that what you can bring to the table matches the needs of the recruiter.

Don’t just “cut and paste” a previous application. Taking the time to carefully review it and tailor the wording to better match the needs of the current vacancy will pay off.

Also, NHS Jobs now lists the shortlisting criteria as part of the advert, to help you to tailor your application - play close attention to these. You need to demonstrate that you meet the shortlisting criteria, or your application may be rejected.
