Supporting young people to choose NHS careers

Work experience and taster placements are a great way of providing people with the opportunity to see the range of exciting health careers are available and how they can step into them.

Across the east of England we are working with partner organisations to increase the opportunities for people to experience work in the healthcare sector, broadening their knowledge of available healthcare careers and helping to ensure the future workforce supply to the NHS.

Work experience and taster placements can help an individual get a feel for and gain knowledge of a desired career, develop aspirations for previously unconsidered career options. It is a requirement for some professions and higher education courses and can take many forms - being organised through schools, volunteering in an individual’s own time or a structured traineeship.

At the moment the website holds information for work experience and taster placements for General Practice. Look at which hospital Trusts are in the east of England and contact your local Health Education England contact officer, Breda Watson (breda.watson@nhs.net), if you would like some experience as a member of our team or in a hospital setting.

We offer opportunities for people who are interested in roles in administration, management, facilities, finance, HR, leadership and communications.
