GP work experience for Year 10 pupils
General Practice is a challenging and rewarding career.
That is the truth, regardless of what else you might hear about General Practice.
It is for the more able and resilient.
Your life will critically cross the lives of many and enable a deeper understanding of yourself and those you care for.
Health Education England is making it possible for Year 10 pupils in the East Midlands to do five day work experience placements to discover the reality of modern day General Practice.
This is a great opportunity to understand the different roles in General Practice and also the different entry routes to become a member of General Practice team.

The placements will ensure that you have experienced and understood of the clinical and management activities in the General Practice setting. You will observe different roles and would have observation session with different sections of the General Practice, for example Reception, Practice Nurse, GP, Practice Manager and other health professionals working in the General Practice. On the conclusion of your work experience you are expected to produce a reflective summary of your experience in order to receive your certificate of completion.
