Learning to be safer

Putting patient safety at the heart of education and training for everyone in the NHS.

Patient safety should be the number one concern of all those who work in the NHS and should therefore be the first and most important lesson they learn as they train to work in the NHS.

The Learning to be Safer Programme aims to improve the quality of patient care, safety and staff wellbeing through education and training. The programme is divided into five work streams – you can read more about these workstreams on our national page:

  1. The Commission on Education and Training for Patient Safety
  2. Human Factors
  3. Safeguarding
  4. Safe Staffing
  5. Better Training Better Care
