Mentoring and supervision

We have published the final report of our Enhancing the Preparation of Mentors and Supervisors project.

The project was led by Dr Val Collington, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education, Kingston University and St George’s, University of London on behalf of Health Education England's south London team.

It was commissioned in response to concerns raised by our stakeholders and focused on:

  • different models of supervision, including the potential for multi-professional supervision;
  • enhancing the esteem associated with mentorship; and
  • addressing variability in the preparation of mentors and supervisors.

The report includes a number of recommendations for those commissioning professional development, employers in various practice settings, education providers and Health Education England.
