Outstanding Learner of the Year
This award highlights the value that the NHS places on the values set out in the NHS Constitution, treating patients and clients, carers and families with respect and compassion.
We are looking for all learners: students, trainees, apprentices and people undertaking continuing personal and professional development, who can demonstrate that they understand the importance of good communication, value patient experience and consider patients as partners in their own care.
This award is open to all students, trainees, and staff who are on programmes leading to formal qualifications. If you are a mentor, educator, trainer or supervisor and a learner has impressed you – we want to hear about it.
The Health Education Wessex strategic goal of A Caring Culture describes how the values and attitudes of students, trainees and staff is the foundation on which to build a caring culture.
Overall themes that the judges will be looking for across all categories, are people and initiatives:
- where workforce development or education and training have made a difference to the quality of services and patient care and service user experience
- who uphold the values of the NHS Constitution; demonstrating care, compassion and respect
- who have worked in partnership across teams, professions and organisations
- which support the development of cultures of learning.
