HEE Chief Executive makes request to Health Committee
4 November 2015
Professor Ian Cumming asked the Health Committee to look at making it easier for doctors to work in primary care including return to practice and in support of GPs. Professor Cumming told the Committee hearing into primary care yesterday that there was particular potential for older doctors who wanted a change from their hospital-based work to move into primary care, where their experience could be invaluable, but that current barriers such as regulations in the Performers List prevented this.
Professor Cumming urged Committee members to consider greater flexibility about the way the primary care workforce of the future could be developed to support GPs and their patients.
