HEE responds to Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health

8 March 2016

Health Education England (HEE) is responsible for the education and training of the future NHS workforce in England.

HEE's priority is to ensure there is a stable and confident workforce, especially looking after children and young people. We need to ensure we have the right skill mix to deliver a safe and sustainable service for patients rather than relying on more doctors in training. Working closely with partners, we are looking at national and international models that provide the best outcomes for patients in order to learn from these.

We are working closely with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and other key partners to review training pathways and build a workforce model that meets the needs of children and young people, ensuring that CYP professionals are supported to deliver the best possible care for these patients.
