HEE welcomes assurances about GP trainee pay

While junior doctor contract negotiations are a matter for NHS Employers, Health Education England are pleased to see the assurances that have been given consistently about maintaining GP trainee pay.

GP trainees should not be worse off as a result of any new contract and it is important that the pay and retention premium continues to incentivise doctors in training to take up GP as a specialty. GP trainees are vital to the future of general practice as part of wider developments to support future patient needs by providing safe, high quality care in primary and community settings.
