Shape of Caring Review engagement film launched

5 November 2015

A film highlighting some of the key themes emerging from the engagement phase of the Shape of Caring Review has been launched on the Health Education England (HEE) website.

Published in March 2015, the Shape of Caring Review ‘Raising the Bar’, aims to ensure that throughout their careers nurses and care assistants receive consistent high quality education and training which supports high quality care over the next 15 years.

During the engagement phase in September and October 2015, more than 1,000 stakeholders fed in their views through a series of face-to-face events and Twitter chats. Around 5,000 tweets were generated under the hashtag #shapeofcaring, with a total reach of over a million people.

Professor Lisa Bayliss-Pratt said:

I’d like to thank everyone who has been part of the engagement phase to date, online and in person, for the high quality of debate. We have heard from hundreds of people and the clear message coming through is that now is the time for change. There is a shared energy and enthusiasm to find the best model for an ever-developing healthcare environment – one that has the patient at its heart, and that values and supports a flexible and talented carer and nursing workforce.

We have been listening and learning, collating and theming the views of stakeholders and these will feed into our response going to HEE’s Board in December.  We will then set on the next leg of the journey to turn our vision into reality.
