Health Education England launches the fifth year of its prestigious Digital Health Leadership Programme

22 February 2022

Health Education England has today launched applications for the fifth cohort of the Digital Health Leadership Programme, the flagship NHS Digital Academy learning programme.

The Digital Health Leadership Programme is a fully accredited 12-month Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Health Leadership delivered by Imperial College London and its partners The University of Edinburgh and Health Data Research UK. It will be delivered through a blend of online and in-person learning methods. The programme is highly engaging for participants,  supporting individual learning and creating a vibrant community of digital change leaders across health and care.

David Farrell, Head of Digital Readiness, Health Education England said:

“The programme is now in its fifth year and is going from strength to strength, building the capability and development opportunities for our digital change leaders. As we welcome another cohort of 100 people, we are doing so knowing that we are increasing the diversity of our learners with particular emphasis on previously underrepresented groups. The programme is full of cutting edge content aimed to stimulate and excite the learners and we know this will reflect in positive changes on the ground and with onward benefit for patient care.”

Rachel Dunscombe - Visiting Professor / Director of the Digital Health Leadership Programme, Imperial College London said:

“As we launch the recruitment drive for Cohort 5, we look forward to welcoming the next generation of digital health leaders onto the flagship programme of the NHS Digital Academy. More than 300 health and care professionals have now graduated from the Diploma programme with a significant number progressing onto the MSc to undertake impactful studies that have shaped national policy and practice.

In the fifth year of the Digital Health Leadership programme, we look to broaden its appeal to attract diverse talent from across health and care professions, with an updated curriculum and an exciting new programme of webinars.”

The team will be running a series of online drop-in sessions during the application window, which will take place at different times of day to support individual needs, and panel sessions with partners to focus on promoting the Digital Health Leadership Programme to specific groups.

The application window for the Digital Health Leadership Programme is open from 22 February – 24 March.
