Health Education England welcomes £10m investment in rest facilities for doctors
17 May 2019
Health Education England has welcomed the news that the Department for Health and Social care will invest £10m in improving doctors' rest facilities.
Professor Sheona MacLeod, Deputy Medical Director for Education Reform, Health Education England said:
Health Education England is committed to improving the working lives of doctors in training and welcomes this additional £10m funding to improve the working environment with better facilities for trainees.
“It is vital that doctors in training have access to appropriate facilities which provide them with somewhere to rest or take a break from their busy shifts and is something that we highlighted in our NHS Staff and Learners’ Mental Wellbeing Commission, which was launched earlier this year.
“This is also part of our Quality Framework which ensures learners have access to a supportive, high-quality training environment. “
