HEE welcomes Royal College of Psychiatrists report

2 July 2020

Health Education England welcomes The Royal College of Psychiatrists' Workforce Strategy 2020-2023 published today. The strategy sets out the workstreams that will be prioritised over the next three years to ensure there is a workforce of well-supported psychiatrists delivering high-quality safe care and leading sustainable services for patients.

Professor Wendy Reid, Interim Chief Executive, Health Education England said:

“We look forward to continuing the excellent working partnership we have with the RCPsych that has resulted in record levels of recruitment into the specialty. There is bound to be an impact on mental health services as we move into the next phase of recovery from the global pandemic, hence this strategy being so timely and important. It also aligns with our work to deliver the Long Term Plan where we have been supporting the development of new roles including Physician Associates, now seen as an essential part of part of the multidisciplinary mental health team.”
