Resources developed to help reduce the impact of antibiotic resistance

13 July 2021

HEE today launches two new videos to help support health and care staff in a variety of settings to understand and prevent the threats posed by antimicrobial resistance.

The videos will help health and care staff to:

  • understand the connection between antibiotic use and antibiotic resistance
  • identify their role in optimising antibiotic use and stewardship
  • ensure compliance with national guidance when recommending, prescribing, dispensing and administering antibiotics
  • improve their self-care/safety-netting advice to patients on the appropriate use of antibiotics”

Sanjiv Ahluwalia Regional Postgraduate Dean for Health Education England London and Clinical Lead for Infection Management

“These important educational videos will support clinical and non clinical staff in primary and secondary care to make informed decisions regarding the prescription, dispensing and use of antibiotics. An important step in raising awareness of the global impact of antibiotic resistance.”

These video resources have been developed by HEE in collaboration with Public Health England (PHE), NHS England and NHS Improvement, Care Quality Commission and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.
