Medical and Dental Careers Strategy
As part of the work we undertake to further improve quality across medical and dental recruitment and selection across the UK, a careers strategy has been developed through the Medical and Dental Recruitment and Selection programme
The purpose of this Careers Strategy is to advise best practice and priorities for careers development within the UK medical and dental workforce. Although it is clearly recognised that doctors form only part of the health care workforce, this is detailed guidance to maximise the potential of this group of healthcare professionals. It is also understood that multi professional working will be key in maximising benefits to patient care.
Developed by the Medical and Dental Recruitment and Selection (MDRS) programme, the strategy is a four nation approach. Partner organisations for this programme are:
- Conference of Postgraduate Medical Deans
- The Committee of Postgraduate Dental Deans and Directors
- Health Education England
- The Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency
- NHS Education Scotland
- Wales Deanery
- General Medical Council
- NHS Employers
- Medical Schools Council
- BMA Junior Doctors Committee
The careers strategy can be found in the documents section below.
