NHS values based care

The NHS belongs to the people and is founded on a common set of principles and values that bind together the communities and people it serves – patients and public – and the staff who work for it.

This Constitution establishes the principles and values of the NHS in England. It sets out rights to which patients, public and staff are entitled, and pledges which the NHS is committed to achieve, together with responsibilities, which the public, patients and staff owe to one another to ensure that the NHS operates fairly and effectively.

HEE is mandated to ambed the values of the NHS Constitution in the healthcare workforce, and as such we have created a number of resources for organisations to use.

Values animations

Six separate animations based on each of the values of the NHS Constitution have been designed.  These animations depict a patient’s perspective of service provision from different areas of the NHS and the impact of that particular value on the patient.  These animations bring the values of the NHS Constitution to life and are available on our webpage as well as on YouTube
