Reena reports from the Ossie Newell Foundation Launch

3 October 2016

Reena Valand, who works for our Innovation team based in Leicester, recently attended the Ossie Newell Foundation launch, and wrote the article below:

I had the pleasure of being invited to the Ossie Newell Foundation Launch. The foundation aims to develop and sustain an organisation capable of contributing strongly to the field of academic research, particularly stroke rehabilitation research. The need for more highly qualified researchers has been the principal driver in the creation of this foundation. The aim is that the success of this venture and the new research which will follow will provide benefits for future stroke patients and their families, as well as the public at large.

When I started in the NHS years ago, Ossie was the first patient I met and his passion for the NHS and his take on his own treatment was really inspiring. It was a great honour to be invited to join Ossie and his family at the launch of his foundation.
