Allied Health Professional Conference 2016

25 July 2016

Earlier this month the workforce supply, demand and retention AHP sub group hosted the #LincsAHPs Conference…Collaborating Together for the Future. Eight allied health professions (AHPs) were represented, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, podiatry, dietitians, orthoptists, diagnostic radiography, and therapeutic radiography from eight different organisations.

The programme of the day included key note speeches, round the table discussions on profession specific workforce challenges, service challenges and thinking differently to solve some of these challenges. There were also presentations from the LETC programme boards leads to update staff on progress to date and suggest ways in which AHPs can engage with these programmes of work.

Key headlines from the day:

Great day, very informative.

Loved the table swapping – great to share views.

Really thought provoking areas of debate covered – food for thought.

Days like this are good from trying to motivate but the ‘talk’ needs to be transferred into actions and not remain notes on flip charts and power points.

There were lots of questions raised / common themes – what do the solutions look like / how do we ensure the ideas today are followed through.

TWITTER+++ a great way to engage in a dynamic way.

I will be part of training staff in new ways of working and promote ‘thinking outside the box.

If all delegates engage with 10 AHPs who couldn’t attend the day, the whole Lincolnshire AHP workforce  will have been updated about the day.
