The Duncan MacMillan Essay prize for psychiatry trainees

The Institute of Mental Health, at the Royal College of Psychiatrists Annual Congress in Edinburgh last week, announced a new award, the Duncan MacMillan Essay prize for psychiatry trainees in the UK. The purpose of this is to celebrate and promote the work of psychiatry trainees nationwide.

The competition seeks essay entries of 1,000 words on the topic of  “The next big thing in psychiatry research”. Entry to this award is limited to registered trainee doctors in psychiatry in the UK.

The winner and runner up of the essay competition will be determined by a panel chaired by the Institute’s Director, Professor Martin Orrell and other senior members of the Institute. First prize: £500, second prize: £250. The winners of the prize will be announced in the autumn.
