East Midlands Ambulance Service wins award at Chief Executive Ambulance Association

A campaign led by staff at East Midlands Ambulance Service and funded by HEE recently had its achievement recognised at the Ambulance Leadership Forum Awards Ceremony held in London.

The campaign support and encourage more people from Black Asian Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities to consider the ambulance service for a career, helping frontline staff represent the communities they serve.

Events have been held to help recruit front line paramedics with the most recent one being at Rangharia Board Sikh Temple, Leicester. It was a special day for the Sikh Community marking the birthday of Guru Nanak (founder of Sikhism). EMAS staff were able to talk (in Punjabi, Hindi and English) about the different roles within the service, show people around an ambulance vehicle and talk about how the service works. Several hundred people attended on the day and there was great interest and enthusiasm from attendees.

Health Education England have worked on Promoting Paramedic Diversity and have supported initiatives like the East Midlands Ambulance Service which is a fine example of the fantastic work our Ambulance trust, universities and wider stakeholders are engaging with to promote the profession to ensure we have a workforce that is reflective of the communities it serves.
