Health Education England (HEE) has approved the establishment of 13 Local Education and Training Boards (LETBs), which will take on their functions from 1 April.

LETB boards, which will be committees of HEE, are made up of representatives from local providers of NHS services and cover the whole of England. They are:

  • Health Education East Midlands
  • Health Education East of England
  • Health Education Yorkshire and the Humber
  • Health Education Wessex
  • Health Education Thames Valley
  • Health Education North West London
  • Health Education South London
  • Health Education North Central and East London
  • Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex
  • Health Education North East
  • Health Education North West
  • Health Education West Midlands

At a HEE Board meeting today, all 13 were authorised after undergoing a rigorous assessment process to assess their abilities in areas including meaningful engagement with key partners and outcome-led improvements and they will now lead local healthcare education and training.
