Innovation project up for national award

8 August 2017

An innovative project in Cornwall funded by Health Education England has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

The BUDDIES or Bug and Drug Delivering Integrated Education System has been developed by the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust and is in the running for the infection, prevention and control category for the 2017 Nursing Times Awards.

Louise Silver and Louisa Forbes at the hospital have been recognised for their work on the this project, where they have been educating health professionals in hospital, community and care home settings on best practice in antibiotic use, ultimately leading to fewer hospital admissions.

The scheme was one of a number of projects funded in 2015/16 in the south west through HEE’s local innovation fund.

The winners will be announced at the prestigious ceremony on 2 November in London.
