Mandy Scott shortlisted for Regional Apprenticeship Awards 2017

These awards challenge top apprenticeship employers and apprentices across England to come forward and show how apprenticeships have made a real difference to their organisation and career

This will be the 14th year the awards have taken place and they are run by the National Apprenticeship Service to recognise excellence.

Mandy Scott was nominated by Warren Jackson from Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals for the North East/Yorkshire and Humber Apprenticeship Champion of the Year Regional Award.

Even though the nomination is in Mandy's name it tells of how the regional group has worked together across different Healthcare Science specialisms, different Trusts within the region and in partnership with education providers to ensure a deliverable education and career framework is in place to train our future workforce. It shows how they have analysed workforce data to look at a sustainable approach to addressing our current workforce shortages and will have provision of level 2 and level 6 apprenticeships in the region by September 2017.

Mandy says:

I think what the Healthcare Science group are doing in this region is something worthy of recognition. They are a fantastic bunch of people who are so committed to the profession.

What the Judges are looking for:

They will be looking for strong advocates of the apprenticeship programme who can showcase how they proactively promote apprenticeships as an excellent career route.

They considered the following points in the nomination:

• An outline of key personal achievements and career successes achieved.
• An explanation of how the nominees are a pro-active ambassador, going above and beyond to advocate apprenticeships, supported by specific information about your activities.
• A description of future development plans and career aspirations.
• The nominees most outstanding personal achievements and career successes can act as a role model to others.
• How the nominee would contribute to the promotion of apprenticeships if they are successful as Apprenticeship Champion 2017.
