NHS apprentices celebrated at national event

28 March 2017

The outstanding contribution made by NHS apprentices from across the country will be celebrated at a prestigous event in London today.

The National NHS Apprenticeship Celebration Awards 2016/17 will see prizes awarded to apprentices whose hard work has been recognised for the impact they have had on a service. Apprentices working across a wide range of NHS settings have been nominated by their teams for an award.

Philip Dunne, Minister of State for Health will attend the event alongside Professor Ian Cumming, Chief Executive, Health Education England (HEE) and Alison Lynch, Director of Nursing and Quality at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Professor Ian Cumming said:

Health Education England recognises the important role that apprenticeships play in supporting the delivery of NHS services. Last year alone there were over 19,820 apprenticeship starts in the NHS.

There are some real success stories and it is fantastic that we are able to celebrate all the hard work and achievements that individuals have made in their own personal careers and to the NHS. There are over 100 different apprenticeship types in the NHS and we are seeing the opportunities available continuing to grow.
