Nursing associate regulation - a statement

3 February 2017

Commenting on the value of close working with its partners in ensuring robust regulation of the new Nursing Associate role, Professor Lisa Bayliss Pratt, Director of Nursing and Deputy Director of Education and Quality, Health Education England (HEE) said:

Health Education England (HEE) has worked in collaboration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) since the Shape of Caring review first suggested the Nursing Associate role. The curriculum framework has been developed following wide-ranging consultation that the NMC has partnered. The NMC and HEE will continue to work closely together during the next two years to ensure that the trainee Nursing Associates within the 35 test sites have a smooth transition onto the register.
