Nursing degree apprenticeship standard

Professor Lisa Bayliss Pratt, Director of Nursing and Deputy Director of Education and Quality, Health Education England, said:

The development of the nursing degree apprenticeship standard is a key element of developing flexible routes into nursing for our health and care workforce.

The nursing degree trailblazer group, co-chaired by Dr Terry Tucker from Hallmark Care and myself, has successfully worked in partnership with the NMC, the Department of Education, the Department of Health, employers from all health and care sectors, Skills for Health and Higher Education institutions to progress the development of the nursing degree apprenticeship standard.

We anticipate that the first apprentice nurse programme will be available by 2017.
