Professor Lisa Bayliss Pratt welcomes the news of regulation for nursing associates

Professor Lisa Bayliss Pratt, Director of Nursing and Deputy Director of Education and Quality, Health Education England, said:

We welcome the news from the Secretary of State today that the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) will be asked to regulate the Nursing Associate role. Regulation represents another positive step towards developing this role. Regulation is something HEE and others have always been in favour of and reflects the clear message we received in the comprehensive consultation process run earlier this year. We look forward to seeing the first cohort of Nursing Associates in training by the end of this year.
