Scientists on route to Clinical Academic Careers

6 February 2017

The Research team have recently been supporting eight healthcare scientists from across the region through a series of educational sessions delivered by HEE-EM and partners, including the University of Leicester and East Midlands Research Design Service.

The sessions form part of the Silver Scientist award, which launched in October 2016. To date, scientists have been developing their skills around a range of subjects such as leadership and management, qualitative and quantitative research methods, writing for publication and interviewing and presentation skills. The skills developed as part of this award will support scholars in applying for the Higher Specialist Scientific Training programme (HSST), which develops them to become research leaders of the future. Scholars are currently preparing for their next educational day in April, which will include mock interviews, presentation of their research proposals and a talk from former Head of the National School of Healthcare Science, Chris Gibson.

To find out more about the Silver Scientist award, please contact Holly Hamer, Project Officer, at hh216@leicester.ac.uk.
