Wessex apprentice recognised at national event

29 March 2017

Wessex Apprentice Nicola Allen has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to the quality of patient care and service delivery at the prestigious National NHS Apprenticeships Celebration Awards 2017.

Thirteen apprentices were honoured at the awards which took place yesterday at BMA House in London in the presence of Phillip Dunne, Minister of State for Health, HEE’s Chief Executive Professor Ian Cumming and Alison Lynch, Director of Nursing and Quality at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Nicola is a Level 3 Clinical Healthcare Support Advanced Apprentice working at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

She was rewarded for the difference her compassion and professionalism have made to patients’ lives and their care experience.

Anna Prygodzicz, Head of Support Worker and Lifelong Learning for Wessex said:

Nicola won this award because she makes sure that the patients are always put first. Dignity and respect are at the forefront of the care she provides. She is an outstanding role model, mentoring new members of the team and sharing good practice. We wish her well in her future career as a nurse.

HEE Wessex Local Director Ruth Monger said:

Congratulations to Nicola, who also won our Apprentice of the Year at the 2016 Wessex Shine Awards. Apprentices are an important way to recruit and retain good people with the right values in the NHS.
