Professor Ian Cumming responds to GP Forward Review announcement

Professor Ian Cumming, Chief Executive at Heath Education England said:

We welcome the GP Forward Review announced today and the key role we will play in taking it forward.

It builds on the work we are already doing with partners to ensure that we have a skilled, trained and motivated workforce in general practice through initiatives such as the GP Ten Point Plan. This work is helping to build the workforce for the future and develop new models of care.

The primary care system is at the forefront of the work of the NHS and we need to look at how we can make sure that it continues to meet the challenging health needs of the UK’s population.  We want to see innovation and new techniques in order to deliver the best possible service to the patients that we serve up and down the country.
