The Queen opens Hull University’s new Allam Medical Building

1 December 2017

On the 16 November Local Director for Yorkshire and the Humber, Mike Curtis and Sally Cheshire, HEE’s LETB Chair for the North were delighted to meet Her Majesty The Queen when she officially opened the Allam Medical Building at the University of Hull and Hull York Medical School.

The new Allam Medical Building, at heart of the University of Hull’s £28 million health campus has been designed to attract and develop students and staff which shape the healthcare workforce of the future.

Addressing critical healthcare challenges such as the shortage of doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers across the region, the Allam Medical Building will play a pivotal role in attracting and developing students who will shape the healthcare workforce of the future. In addition, the investment will increase the university’s capacity to deliver life-changing research by attracting academic expertise from across the UK and further afield.

Mike Curtis commented:

The Queen’s visit to open this new medical building and meet the dedicated teaching staff and students is a great boost to efforts to strengthen the health and care workforce in this part of our region.
