New resources showcase Global Radiologist programme

27 January 2021

A new animation and set of case studies highlighting the Global Radiologist programme which aims to attract and recruit radiologists from overseas for trusts in England has been launched today by Health Education England.

The resources set out how the process around becoming a global radiologist or a host organisation for the radiologist works and outline the benefits of the programme. The programme enables radiologists to support NHS radiology departments whilst learning specialist skills, as part of a three-year earn, learn and return scheme.

Ged Byrne, Director of Global Engagement, Health Education England said:

“These fantastic new resources are key to helping us showcase and raise awareness of this important programme of work. We are training more radiologists in England, but we need to do more to make sure we keep up with demand and attracting radiologists from overseas to train in English Trusts is a part of that."

The programme is a collaboration with partners including The Royal College of Radiologists, Apollo Radiology International and University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust as the pilot trust.
