HEE invited to accept silver award in Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (DERS).

24 October 2022

In recent awards ceremony, HEE accepts Silver award in the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (DERS), which represents HEE's on-going commitment to our reservists, flexibility towards annual training commitments and mobilisation of Reservist colleagues.

The Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme encompasses awards for organisations that pledge to support the armed forces community and align their values of the Armed Forces Covenant.

In August 2020, HEE signed The Armed Forces Covenant, promising armed forces reservists, veterans, and their families, are treated fairly.

Support for the scheme was put together through our Best Place to Work Change Hub, where we asked volunteers from across HEE and our internal armed forces community to work together to improve our stance as a force friendly employer, and go from the bronze award, which we have held since 2015, to the silver.

This work included creating comprehensive guidance on an internal Manager’s Hub, which supplies guidance for supporting our armed forces reservists, veterans, cadets, and their families, and involved other projects such as inclusive recruitment.

Dr Navina Evans, Chief Executive, said: “Accepting the Silver award in the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme is an immense honour for HEE. It has been a pleasure to see the commitment and hard work put into our past and present reservists”

Here at HEE, we are dedicated to improving the support provided to the Armed Forces community and will continue to develop in the future.
