NHS educator workforce principles and maturity framework
The NHS educator workforce programme has been leading the development of guiding educator workforce principles. These principles are designed to support educators, learners, service delivery and patient safety.
This work has been conducted in collaboration with education providers, regulators and professional bodies who have published education and educator standards.
NHS educator workforce maturity framework
Initially, the team co-developed a set of guiding principles. Building on these, a Maturity Framework was co-designed with the NHS Educator Workforce Maturity Framework working group - comprising multiprofessional representatives from across the NHS and partners.
Throughout the development process, we have maintained close collaboration, using feedback from the working group to shape the current Maturity Framework. This Maturity Framework is designed to help systems and organisations conduct self-assessments against indicators of educator workforce maturity and how the NHS educator workforce is integrated into service planning and delivery.
The NHS Educator Workforce Principles Maturity Framework is currently in its testing phase before official launch.
