enhance for the Foundation Programme
Following on from our successful trailblazer pilot programmes across England, the NHSE enhance programme is now available to all Foundation doctors from August 2023.
The enhance programme aligns with the UKFPO Foundation curriculum priorities and the NHS Long-term Workforce Plan to promote the development of generalist skills in order to work effectively across the health and care landscape, drive change and improve patient care.
At the beginning of their career, Foundation doctors are in the ideal position to start thinking about what shapes patient care and services, and how they can be involved in designing and implementing improvements in their current and future roles.
See what some of our Foundation trainees in the East of England pilot thought about the programme:
Foundation doctors can get involved in the enhance programme in two different ways:
- enhance enable – Work through the enhance Foundation module workbooks at your own pace, with support from your clinical or educational supervisor.
- enhance explore – Apply via Oriel to access bespoke enhance priority programmes which include protected time for generalist and community placement activities.
Contextual leadership certificates are available on completion of the programme, which can contribute a point towards specialty training applications.
