Sensory health services training

This programme aims to equip professionals with knowledge and understanding about autistic children and young people and/or complex learning disabilities and the special residential schools and colleges that meet their educational needs.

The video-led, interactive resource will introduce professionals undertaking oral health, eye care and audiology services to the environment of a special residential school or college.

Participants will benefit from improved knowledge and understanding of the children and young people they will be supporting, and the advice and guidance on how to personalise their service to meet their needs to facilitate sensory checks.

There are three interactive learning modules: –

  • Introduction
  • The children and young people
  • The school environment

The programme will take approximately one hour to undertake, and learners will get a certificate of completion at the end of the course.

Although aimed at sensory staff, the content is not profession-specific and would be useful to any health and care professionals working with children and young people in special residential schools and colleges for the first time.
