Nursing in Social Care

Nurses in social care have distinct expertise. They use their clinical skills to understand the variety of needs of patients, and also deliver relationship-centred support. They recognise the importance of giving each individual a sense of security, purpose, achievement and significance.

The role attracts people who find personal fulfilment in enabling people to live well as an important member of society. The rewards are incredible and bring a personal understanding of people and how our connections with one another are the foundation of validity.

HEE will continue to work in partnership with social care to ensure that our future nursing workforce and other healthcare staff can continue to support both the health and care system.

A new video has been launched to promote the rewards of nursing in social care. The seven-minute video was filmed at Wren Hall and Landermeads nursing homes in Nottingham. It features our colleagues and family members (residents) talking about how wonderful and beneficial a career in nursing in social care is.

Nurses in social care are passionate about what they do, and this film showcases the role of nursing in social care. It conveys the passion and varied nature of the career, and demonstrates how social care nursing is about supporting people in the long term.
