A joint London and Kent Surrey Sussex scheme in 2018/19, building on the great success of previous programmes in both regions, provided a further 36 places using economies of scale from Regional HEE funding and the Academy.

These schemes support public health practitioners gain registration with the UKPHR and ensure key public health skills remain embedded within the core public health workforce.
The Academy is also working across London and Kent, Surrey and Sussex to develop and finalise practitioner development strategies to support the continuing professional development of practitioners outside of the registration scheme and will support implementation of these strategies for 2019/20 to 2022/23.
Responding to a need to make key public health competencies available more widely; work also commenced in 2017 to develop a range of tools and resources transferable to all geographies with UKPHR.
