Professional support for postgraduate medical and dental trainees
Health Education England (HEE) is committed to enabling all postgraduate medical and dental trainees to maximise the opportunities available to them throughout their training.
Professional support resources, usually coordinated through a Professional Support Unit (PSU) or Professional support and Wellbeing Unit (PSWU) cover all of HEE's regions.

London and Kent, Surrey and Sussex
The Professional Support Unit (PSU) is a service primarily dedicated to supporting the progression of postgraduate medical and dental trainees through their training.
Access to the service is self-referral only, trainees can contact the service or fill in the online application form.
We have recently developed a COVID-19 Wellbeing Hub where we have gathered information and resources together to help trainees and signpost them to routes for support.

Thames Valley
The PSWS is dedicated to helping doctors, dentists and pharmacists across the Thames Valley fulfil their career potential.
We are a group of case managers and coaches who put trainee support and wellbeing at the heart of what we do.
Our services include enhanced exam support, wellbeing services, personal coaching and mentoring to address career and performance improvement needs, and workshops and information designed to support career choices. We also provide support and advice to educators, supervisors, responsible officers and employers in the Thames Valley in their work with doctors, dentists and pharmacists, whether in training or not.
Access to the service is by self-referral or referral by an educator.

Wessex
The Professional Support and Wellbeing Unit (PSW) is available to doctors and dentists in training. Access is normally via referral by Clinical/ Educational supervisor or TPD but trainees are able to self refer during the COVID-19 pandemic.
*It is only possible to self-refer for support as a direct result of experiences with COVID-19. We are unable to accept self-referrals for non-COVID-19 related issues.

The Trainee Support Service provides Occupational Health services and confidential coaching support to doctors & dentists in a training programme. Access to these services is via referral by TPD.
