Therese Davis - Regional Head of Nursing and Midwifery, east of England

Therese DavisI am currently the regional head of nursing and midwifery across the east of England. I am a registered nurse with over 38 years of experience within the NHS – 20 years of those as a chief nurse.

I joined the east of England team as regional head of nursing and midwifery in April 2020. As the regional head I bring expertise in relation to the workforce and educational needs to those providing health and social care within the wide range of acute and primary care settings. I work alongside the regional senior management team and the senior team from NHSE to ensure the nursing and midwifery agenda is central to everything we do. I am passionate about the delivery of high-quality care which includes ensuring we have the right workforce with the right skills and education.

Other projects the regional team and I are involved with:

- leading the implementation of the 50K additional nurses manifesto across the region

- midwifery expansion and transformation

- supporting the regional quality agenda

- supporting student placements across the sector

- implementing the advanced clinical practitioner role

Message from the regional team:

We are delighted that you chose to train in the east of England and gain the diverse and valuable practice experience that the region uniquely awards all our learners.

We are determined to support all our nursing and midwifery students to stay, or help any of you that have paused, for whatever reason, to return to your studies. We’ll help you to consolidate and build on the learning gained during your journey towards your NMC registration and transition into successful employment in the east of England.

We are focused on supporting sustainable, long-term growth in the nursing and midwifery workforce, which is vital to ensure that the health system has the right workforce, in the right numbers, to support high-quality and safe nursing and maternity care for patients in our region.

We welcomed regional student quality ambassadors to the regional retention conference on 16 March. This event had a specific focus on student and staff retention. Their learner voice was heard by workforce leads, chief nurses and education leads from across the region, and we captured some of this and created a short series of interviews, please watch to see what they had to say.

If you would like more information or would like to join our regional quality ambassador network, which includes students and preceptees, please email the team.

This section includes opportunities and upcoming events that you can get involved with.
