Welcome to the north east and Yorkshire page for student nurses, midwives and trainee nursing associates. This page will contain useful information and resources from our nursing and midwifery team.  

Meet Laura Serrant - North east and Yorkshire Regional Head of Nursing and Midwifery. 

Laura Serrant OBEProfessor Laura Serrant OBE is regional head of nursing and midwifery and Professor of Community and Public Health Nursing at Manchester Metropolitan University.  

Professor Serrant has extensive experience in national and international health policy development with particular specialist input on racial and ethnic inequalities and cultural safety. It was her work in this area which led to her being awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list 2018 for services to Health Policy.  She is listed eighth in the top 100 most influential Black people in the UK by the Powerlist UK. In 2021 she received the Nursing Times lifetime achievement award for services to nursing by the four UK countries chief nursing officers.

There are a series of TNA webinars scheduled to take place throughout 2023, the purpose of these sessions is to hear the TNA voice

All webinars are scheduled to take place between 1:30pm and 2:30pm;

Wednesday 12 July,  

Wednesday 13 September,  

Wednesday 18 October,  

Wednesday 15 November, and  

Wednesday 6 December.  

For those unable to join on the above dates, additional sessions have been added: 

Evening session: Wednesday 12 April, 6:30pm to 7:30pm 

Weekend session: Saturday 22 April, 10am to 11am
