AHP return to practice study days for clinical supervisors

NHS England are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for all AHP clinical supervisors within east of England.

NHS England has partnered with the University of Coventry to deliver a bespoke two-day course for clinicians who supervise or support return to practice candidates. While this course is designed with an emphasis on Return to Practice, its content will be beneficial to all supervisors supporting learners in the current clinical settings.

This course is structured around problem-based learning methods which can be applied in any setting and of benefit to all clinical educators. The New Educational Framework has been recently launched and this course will help you enhance the educational pillar of your clinical practice.

Aims of the session

  • To introduce problem-based learning as an approach to teaching and learning, outlining some of its strengths and challenges
  • To provide the opportunity to explore, discuss, and debate some of the key features of problem-based learning and facilitation
  • To provide an immersive experience of problem-based learning both from a student and a facilitator perspective

Intended outcomes

  • For participants to understand the process of PBL and how this can be applied in practice
  • For participants to gain a sense of confidence and competence in PBL facilitation
  • For participants to develop their own action plan for implementation of problem-based learning
